Stay In School, Kids

  • Fandamnation

The self-implosion of a Fandom. Occurs due to cancellation, inner conflict within the fandom or in television, the introduction of a long-lost-little-sibling. Those pesky kids.

    Fantatorship

Sounds like a soda but unfortunately it has fizz and no fun. A fantatorship is the often heavy-handed ruling of a fandom by a BNF and a core inner sanctum. Free speech costs you, you know.

    CurioFan

    The fan who isn't-really-a-fan-at-all-just-found-their-way-to-your-internets-and-you're-all-going-to-hell-in-a-handbasket-for-being-perverts

    Bad Fandom Behaviour

Breaking the cardinal rules of fandom. There's no crying in fandom.

    Rule 34

If it exists, there is porn on the internet for it.

    Canon

Especially relating to fanfiction - the source material. Anything else is Fanon. I don't know where the term came from (possibly God) but it can literally mean I Will Shoot You With A Cannon If You Defy This Canon.

    Mary Sue

The Fanfiction version of Chuck Norris. Better at everything than you.

    Career Of Awesome

The vocation of a person who is Full Of Win. Often relates to Mary Sue or Gary Stu.

    'Shipping' 'Shippers' 'Shipwars'

This is probably a term a lot of non-fans have heard around. Basically, to 'ship' is to support a relationship of two characters of any book, series etc. These pairings can be canon (part of the original mythology) or fanon (wacky pairings made up by fans). Shippers are usually the most vocal within a fandom. They are fiercely loyal, extremely one-eyed and willing to put up a fight. Many a fan has fallen in a shipwar.
Think of it as the Love Boat, without the love ironically.

    Fanties

A rather blue term to describe that which fangirls get in a knot when something in fandom irks them. For example, when Robert Pattinson was first cast as Edward Cullen, rabid Twilighters got their Fanties In A Twist.

    Not Sparkly Enough (N.S.E)

Not up to par or standard. Just average. Not very dazzling ie. "I've got a nice boyfriend, but he's just not sparkly enough"
